Transition outfits are key in the first weeks of fall.
Well as summer comes to a close, I feel like rejoicing! I love the fall as you all probably already know, and I am willing to dress like its fall even though it won’t be fall in Atlanta until February. I thought what a wonderful way to kick off the return of personal style here on Soar Thumb! This week is the fall preview week. I’ll show you guys some of my favorite outfits for transitioning into fall, some of my favorite fall trends, and how to take some of those summer outfits and switch them up for the cool weather.
Today’s OOTD is one of my favorites for the transition into fall. It’s in one of my favorite colors, mustard! It’s also great because you can take your jacket off in the warmer afternoon hours and it’s still a great look. The jacket is the same vintage jacket I showed you guys in OOTD: Hot/Cold Switcharoo, I don’t have to tell you that I love this jacket! It’s wool so it’s very warm but its cropped and shrunken so it’s not extra bulky. The dress was a Christmas gift from my sister in law. I loved it when I got it 2 years ago, but before I lost weight I just didn’t feel comfortable in it. It’s a cable knit, but the knit isn’t chunky enough to mask the love handles. So this was my first time wearing it, and it’s going to be a fall staple! The boots are my favorite part of the outfit. I got these boots at some obscure shoe store in Atlanta for like 15 bucks! They were a great buy, because they are now going on three years old and not a scratch, dent, or mishap! The scarf is thrifted, I wasn’t going to buy it because it is a little dark for my taste. But, It is actually a great compliment to some of my brightly colored blazers.
This outfit takes me from work, to Starbucks with friends, to happy hour. I love that. And it’s a great choice for those days when its 65 degrees in the morning and 73 by 3pm. It would also look great with brown or mustard tights.
